Challenge: road to 42 miles
Words: Cameron Hanson
Perhaps one of the greatest things about endurance sports is the close knit community that builds up around it. When you turn up to an event you can be sure to see an ocean of positive like minded people who before long begin to feel like family.
As a team we created dure almost out of a selfish act to provide us with a platform and an excuse to connect with all of you and share content and stories that make us desperate to get up and enjoy the outdoors.
We soon realised that none of us on the team had ever actually run an ultra marathon and so 6 months ago as a way to introduce Dure to the community we put out a post on all our social media saying this “the more likes this post gets the further Cameron is going to run”.
I have to admit if i knew we would get such a huge response I would’ve been hesitant to release that post.
So here we are 6 months later with a single challenge, to run 42 miles in a single day!
Before this challenge I have always been a 5-10 mile distance runner anything more than that seems ludicrous to me. Though I have to admit I'm excited to push myself and see what I’m really made of.
Over the next 5 months I will be training hard to make this happen. Stay tuned for lots of content coming up including:
Ultra runner interviews
Route planning
Training blogs/videos
Nutrition planning
